Best set of irons I've ever hit....

5 out of 5 stars

Best set of irons I've ever hit….
My current clubs are a set of Taylormade RACs from 2010, and they're definitely starting to show their age and wear. I decided it was time make the jump and upgrade to Taylormade's latest and greatest, and boy am I glad I did….Normally, the incremental improvements and changes brought by the latest gen irons each year are usually just marginal, so if you've got a set of game improvement irons from the last 5 years or so, I doubt you'll see a TON of improvement from a performance standpoint. But if you're upgrading from an older set like me, it will be like night and day….. Here in NYC, it's still like ~20 degrees out, so I've only had the chance to try them out at the simulator downtown, but just from the hour or so I've had with them so far, I'm averaging about ~5-10 yards more carry vs my legacy set of irons, and the consistency and feel is just out of this world. Also, the sound is really awesome… They've engineered some type of synthetic insert into the cavity that eliminates vibrations on off center hits, and it's definitely not a gimmick. Off center shots that would normally clang and vibrate through my arm like a tuning fork with my old set, feel and sound totally normal with this set. And when you hit it pure, that solid cracking sound is like music to the ears. They're also waaay more forgiving than my old set. I definitely hit some shots that were embarrassingly close to the toe, and I cringed as I waited for the data from the shot monitor expecting it carry 30% less distance, but surprisingly, the distance penalty was closer to like ~10-15%….I'll take that all day vs my old clubs. One small, tiny caveat….These are marketed as high launching, straight distance irons, but I've noticed, personally for me at least, that they've got a slight draw bias. For the majority of golfers (me included) that tend to fight slices, this is no big deal at all and actually a bit welcome. But still important to be aware of, from a control stand point. I will update this review in time when I get to take them out on the actual course, but so far, I'm loving the Qi Max….Anyone looking for a top tier set of game improvement irons should look no further, you will not absolutely not be disappointed with this set. Recommend 100%!

Grips nothing special, loft almost identical to my stealth irons. Now to find out if reax shaft is better than ventus stealth shafts.
Hit on range today. Good straight distance with all irons.

Absolutely gorgeous clubs! Hit them a few times and they feel great! Can’t wait to play a full round with them next week!!! Exactly what I paid for. My TM p790’s were just too much for me.

Product Summary: Taylormade Golf Qi Max Irons Steel Stiff Mens

From TaylorMade
SUPERIOR FEEL AND SOUND What the golfers perceive as feel is largely the result of the sound the club makes at impact. The two areas most responsible for sound and feel are the top line and the face. In the Qi MAX, a new internal stability bar and ECHO Damper material have been strategically positioned to support these areas, reduce vibrations, and deliver premium feel in a game improvement iron.
STRAIGHT DISTANCE Proven TaylorMade patented face technology controls face flexibility to reduce “cut” spin that can result from fast face iron designs, allowing golfers to experience straighter shots throughout the entire set.
INDIVIDUAL HEAD OPTIMIZATION Each head has been designed to deliver specific performance for that individual iron. Starting with a foundation of maximum distance and forgiveness, the face design is tailored to deliver the launch and spin needed for straight, consistent shots with each iron.
OPTIMIZED BALL FLIGHT FLTD CG strategically places the CG lowest in the long irons and higher as the set progresses. The design produces enhanced launch and playability in the long irons and precision and control in the scoring clubs.
REFINED PLAYERS SHAPE Refined shaping reflects internal tech features to create an aspirational players look. Shaping includes a confidence-inspiring thinner top line and blade length that blend seamlessly with a reduced offset hosel.
