I picked up this Acer Velocity graphite shaft in a senior flex to experiment with my Callaway driver setup, and it turned out to be a great decision. I shortened the shaft to around a strong 3-wood length instead of standard driver length, and I immediately noticed improvements in both accuracy and consistency—distance held up well too.
This shaft is perfect if you like to tinker and fine-tune your setup. Just keep in mind you’ll need to install the correct adapter tip for your driver head and add your own grip.
One thing I experimented with was building up the top half of the grip with an extra layer. That made a big difference—it gave the grip a slightly thicker feel in the upper hand, making it more comfortable to choke down without feeling too thin. It also helped me avoid overcompensating, which reduced pulls and those duck hooks into the bushes.
Overall, this shaft works great as a budget-friendly option for testing different lengths and grip setups. If you’re trying to improve control and consistency, this is definitely worth trying.
