As a mid-handicap golfer who has played Pro V1s for years, I honestly did not expect to switch golf balls anytime soon. After several rounds with the Callaway Chrome Tour 2026, I can confidently say these earned a permanent spot in my bag.
The biggest difference for me was consistency. Off the tee, I immediately noticed more reliable ball flight and tighter dispersion, especially on drives where my misses usually get exaggerated. Distance was also surprisingly better for my swing speed, particularly with the driver and longer irons.
Around the greens, the feel is excellent. The ball still provides the soft response and control you expect from a premium tour-level ball without feeling overly spin-heavy. Putting felt solid and predictable, and the overall performance from tee to green was extremely balanced.
What impressed me most was how forgiving and stable the ball felt during an entire round. As a 15 handicap, consistency matters more to me than squeezing out one perfect shot every few holes, and these delivered that dependable performance over and over.
If you’ve been loyal to Pro V1s but are curious about alternatives, the Chrome Tour deserves serious consideration. For my game, it actually performed better where it matters most, distance, consistency, and confidence on every shot.

I sent it back for being too small. It was probably great but I didn’t use it. –
